Pineapple Sorbet
Makes about 4 cups
1 whole pineapple
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp vodka or rum
Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan, heat until the sugar dissolves. Peel and core the pineapple, then cut the fruit into rough chunks. Puree the fruit and sugar syrup in a blender of food processor, then pour into a bowl. Stir in the vodka or rum. Chill for at least 4 hours, then freeze in an ice cream maker.
I LOOOOVE pineapple. This is making my mouth water and it's only 8 in the morning. Oh, and that bowl is too cute!! :)
ReplyDeleteYum! I think pineapple sorbet is probably my favorite flavor!
ReplyDeleteWould this turn out okay without the alcohol?
ReplyDeleteI would love to make it!
Memoria - Yes you can leave out the alcohol. Its purpose is to help keep the sorbet soft, so yours will just be a little harder. Just leave it out on the counter for 10 min before trying to scoop it. :-)
ReplyDeleteEric and I made this on Sunday, and it is so fantastic. I topped mine with fresh raspberries, and they went really well with the sorbet.
